Overview

The Director, Tax will oversee the Company’s tax compliance, tax reporting and planning and accounting for income taxes. Responsibility for working with businesses, service providers, and other tax professionals. The Director, Tax will work with financial management within the Company and third-party service providers. The ideal person will be hands on, analytically strong, with excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the corporate year end and quarter close process for income taxes (ASC 740), including ASC 740-10-25 (formerly FIN 48) documentation and analysis
• Preparation and/or review of tax disclosures in all SEC and other external reports
• Review federal, state, local and partnership returns
• Review estimated tax payments
• Monitor and review tax legislation to assess applicability to the Company
• Supervision of tax compliance and accounting staff
• Collaborate with the Chief Accounting Officer to develop the tax strategy, goals and objectives for the consolidated tax function. Oversee development and maintenance of Tax Department policies and procedures in connection with this strategy.
• Build and maintain relationships within the Finance groups, as well as throughout the organization to help facilitate timely and accurate tax compliance reporting and execution of tax strategy.
• Identify tax risk areas and work with other functional areas to ensure appropriate steps are taken to minimize tax risk.
• Provide ongoing support to the Chief Accounting Officer and Chief Financial Officer related to tax planning and strategy.
• Oversee all tax software and Saas providers that interact with all of the accounting systems.
• Assists with miscellaneous projects and reports as requested.

Qualifications

Education/Credentials


Education Level: Bachelor’s Degree
Major: Tax, Accounting, Finance or related field
Degree must be from an accredited college or university.

 

Education Details:
• Master's degree in business taxation is preferred
• JD and/or CPA preferred

 


Certifications and/or Licenses:


Experience in lieu of required education is acceptable: No
Continuing education is required to maintain license and to perform job: Yes
Job-Related Experience


Customarily has at least the following experience: 10 or more years
• Ten years of related experience with at least 5 years in a public accounting firm focusing on corporate tax
• Ability to mentor and develop a tax department from the ground up
• Superior analytical, problem-solving and data-gathering and analysis skills.

• Oversee provision process and income tax return preparation from start to finish
• Prepare tax disclosure documents

• Work closely with the CAO and CFO to develop tax strategy, goals and objectives
• Oversee development and maintenance of tax department policies and procedures
• Build relationships with groups throughout the organization to facilitate timely and accurate tax reporting
