The Staff Accountant, Accounting Shared Services (Fixed Assets) is responsible for the recording of newly acquired fixed assets, tracking existing assets, recording depreciation, and accounting for the disposition of fixed assets - all in accordance with general accepted accounting principles.
• Prepare and verify the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications. Ensure all entries are in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Review accounts payable invoices to determine if amounts should be capitalized or expensed based on the Fixed Asset Policy and GAAP.
• Timely recording of disposals and retirements, as well as all new assets (to include the use of cost segregation studies when capitalizing buildings and/or building improvements) in accordance with the fixed asset policy.
• Participate in Real Estate meetings to understand project status and validate capitalization dates.
• Complete and record internal cost segments when necessary and when to facilitate external cost segments for large projects.
• Compilation of project costs into CIP accounts and the close out of those balances once the related projects are complete.
• Monthly reconciliations of fixed asset sub-ledgers to the general ledger. Ensure appropriate classification of balance sheet activity.
• Provide fluctuation analysis of monthly and quarterly fixed asset activity.
• Support audit process by providing information to auditors, both internal and external, on a quarterly and annual basis.
• Assist with the integration of acquisitions and/or joint ventures into our financial systems and processes.
• Participate in system implementations, upgrades, patches and testing.
• Ensure month end close deadlines are met and work is performed in accordance with established Internal Control procedures.
• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining professional networks; participating in professional organizations, etc.
• Demonstrates ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
• Support special projects and undertake other duties as requested.

• Fixed asset accounting experience Preferred
• Strong analytical and time management skills required
• Excellent communication (verbal and written) and critical problem solving skills
• Detail oriented
• Proficient with MS Excel
• Experience with large-scale financial systems (Oracle, PeopleSoft, SAP) preferred
